So far this semester I have noticed two things about myself when I write blogs. The first one is that I takes me a lot of preparation, but that is just my writing style and is present in everything I write. The second thing I have noticed is that I have to be thorough and that normally leads to a longer blog. These two observations that I have made are not bad, they are just facts about my writing that I have noticed over the last few weeks. As a result, I have noticed that I make a point to go back over the prompt multiple times to ensure that I have answered every single question and have included every single thought. I believe this has help both my blogs and discussions be prompt driven and detailed. After looking back over my first discussion, I had to go back and fix a typo, however it was after the editing time, so I fixed it in a comment. Other than that I haven’t needed to go back to edit anything with the exception of my Blog 2 title. I just wanted that title to be different.
So far, I have not missed a single class or assignment and I have actively participated in every activity. I have always come prepared, with my book, having already read the reading assigned to us. I try my best to stay focused at all times and when I pull up my laptop it is for English 1102 related material; otherwise my laptop is in my book bag.
I have found that my bucket list consists of four primary sections. The first section is traveling. I love travel, traveling and experiencing different cultures, and environments especially the different food. In fact, my one rule for venturing to a new country is; never say no to something different (especially food). The second section is risk taking/challenging. This portion contains things like drive on the autobahn, wing-suit, bungee jump, donate blood, sky dive, etc. Basically it is anything that I would find challenging, difficult, or adrenaline pumping. As of right now, I am pretty sure that getting married and having a family is also in this category though I am not completely sure. The third category is helpful. This section consist of helping someone else complete a bucket list item and seeing someone freed from human trafficking/ the end of a sex ring. The final category is miscellaneous and this sections has things like: learning to surf, study abroad, learn to juggle, and learning to play the guitar.
When it came to the blog on the bucket list item, I found myself picking the objective that I know I will complete earliest. I have had a phobia of needles since the fourth grade and that affected my decision as well. This bucket list item has haunted me or a long time and I believe, if I complete this task, I can ease this fear, if not overcome it completely.
So far, I have not had any issues in researching my bucket list. Though some of my thoughts and writings have taken longer to develop and produce while researching, I have found a lot of useful information.
Over the course of this semester, I have found that the discussions have helped me better understand the content of the class. It is one thing to read something or see a movie, but it is a whole different ball game when one had to write about it. Writing about the reading or movie can present a different view on the topic and it shows a whole new level of understanding and comprehension. My favorite discussion so far, would have to be the Shitty First Drafts. Not only did the name make me laugh, but I found that for me, it has been the most relatable discussion so far. The fact that professional writers also suffer from the torment that is writers block, blew my mind. Right now, I believe the discussions have helped me grasp the material and better understand the class.
In the end, I believe my final grade should be an above average & beyond or extraordinary. I believe this because my responses to discussions are always more than just “good thought” or “I like that.” Also my blogs and initial discussion are always very detailed and thorough and after looking through my work, my participation, and attendance. I believe I have gone above the call of duty.
